In the early 1990s Columbia client obtained the certifications for the production and personalization of credit and debit cards for Mastercard and VISA International. Their commitment to quality and technological innovation had them invest in Best-of-Breed equipment and highly sophisticated security procedures. This grew the business steadily and established them as a premier suppliers of Banking cards in the region with HQ in Colombia and operations in Costa Rica, Venezuela, Peru, Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador and the USA.


The Columbia client  increasingly encountered artificial interoperability restrictions of some of their suppliers. This was creating operational problems and unnecessary costs and had to be mitigated.


Wisecard supplied the SmartOne is a vendor-independent EMV Personalization Management System, offering the solution to this issue.


SmartOne supports equipment of all major personalization machine suppliers and provides a single tool-chain across the entire personalization operation across all the pre-existing personalization equipment.

The interactive EMV Profile Editor and the SmartOne SDK provides the in-house capability to rapidly implement new EMV Card products. Removing the reliance on third-party service providers during new product creation. This markedly improves the services the Columbia client can offer the Banks in the region.


The main challenge during the implementation of SmartOne were Corona related travel restrictions. Wisecard managed to deploy the system remotely and performed user and developer training via video conferencing. To ensure and offered very tight support during the entire implementation period.


The Columbia client  appreciates the flexibility SmartOne offers for Perso equipment and chip supply, allowing the tighter utilization of the existing equipment. Additionally, the flexibility to create new products rapidly is an immediate benefit to their Banking customers.


The Columbia client is looking forward to deploying further features of the SmartOne suite to offer further, more immediate services to their customers.
